In this three-part series, we plunge deep into the forests, from the evergreen conifer woodlands in the south to the beech and spruce woods in central and eastern Germany. Employing the latest technology, the film immerses viewers in a remarkable environment, filled with plants, fungi, and animals.The series aims to examine popular myths, for example, that forest animals such as red deer, eagle owls, and hazel grouses spend their lives entirely in the woods. We watch as these creatures venture out of the forests into sunny clearings, where the plants and insects on which they feed thrive.Climate change forces us to embrace new concepts. We are introduced to foresters and scientists who are working to increase biodiversity and prevent unmanaged forests from returning to dense, dark monocultures, and exploring how we can protect, enjoy, and even profit from the forests of the future.
